Eric Carmen

American singer-songwriter, formerly of power-pop band the Raspberries, who went solo in the mid-1970s. His signature hit, "All by Myself" (1975), built its melody directly on Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 -- closely enough that Carmen ended up splitting the song's publishing royalties with the composer's estate.
