Christopher Wallace of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn — the rapper who gave Bad Boy Records its center of gravity and East Coast hip-hop its most quotable narrator on the strength of one album, 1994's Ready to Die. Murdered in Los Angeles in March 1997 at 24, sixteen days before his second album, Life After Death, was released.
