Hollis, Queens hip-hop trio -- Joseph "Run" Simmons, Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels, and Jason "Jam Master Jay" Mizell -- whose 1986 album Raising Hell, produced with Rick Rubin, pushed rap into the rock mainstream. Their cover of Aerosmith's "Walk This Way," recorded with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, is credited with both reviving Aerosmith's career and opening MTV and rock radio to hip-hop for the first time.
